Hopefully Sword and Shield take a similar route in their enhanced versions (if we get enhanced versions) and add more post game content, though I'm pretty ok with most of the post game in SW/SH for the most part. There are also a few "side quests" and things you can do before or after the main story. You have the Rainbow Rocket Episode, Battle Tree, TONS of legendries, easy-to-find shinnies, and ultra beasts in the Ultra Space Wilds, completing the Pokedex (I know every game has it, but it's still something for post game), and defending your champion title, which is even better due to random challengers. I would also add the post game for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. EoS was such a big part of my childhood, and it’s a shame that it was panned by official reviews. The guild theme is still engraved in my mind. I remember playing through the Igglybuff/Armaldo side-chapter at the laundromat, and actually getting emotional over the ending. I remember fighting Palkia while sitting down at a Burger King. I remember getting grounded by my mother because I bombed a test, but I ended up stealing my DS back and getting through Hidden Land. I remember restarting my entire game once because I couldn’t beat Dialga. My first team was a pikachu (who I could never evolve, don’t remember why) and a piplup. (Things like Manaphy, the whole Darkrai arc) After I beat the game, every time I’d start a new day in game, I would get excited in case I got a “surprise”. My god man I remember playing that shit as a kid. This can range from as little as an additional Legendary Pokémon to, well, an entire region and additional story for the player to experience. Since then, every Pokémon game has had at least a little something to do once the player beats the region's Champion and Elite Four. Updated on November 7th, 2020 by Josh Davison: Post-game content has become an expected inclusion for Pokémon games thanks to the inclusion of the entire Kanto region in Gold, Silver, and Crystal. To make this list, the areas and/or activities must only become available after completing the main game – outside of using a device like a Game Shark. In fact, many gamers will say Game Freak has yet to top the post-game content offered in Gen II. RELATED: 10 Pokémon Anime Episodes Too Sad For KidsĪlthough there was some post-game content in Gen I ( Red, Blue, and Yellow), it wasn’t until Gen II (Gold, Silver, and Crystal) that the traditional really began. In fact, the one time Nintendo/Game Freak didn’t add much post-game content (Pokémon: Black & White) fans made their displeasure known. The Pokémon franchise is well known for providing players with some great post-game content.
